Bitcoin wallet safety: the basics
Your seed phrase is your wallet. Whoever holds it controls the bitcoin.
Three rules:
1. Generate the seed on a trusted device — preferably a hardware wallet.
2. Back it up offline, in at least two physically separate places. Steel plates beat paper.
3. Never type it into a website, photograph it, or store it in cloud notes.
For larger amounts, look into multi-signature wallets (multi-sig). A 2-of-3 setup means a thief needs to compromise two different devices in two different places.
